Vacuum II - Let’s say we’re at sea, 2024

Vacuum II, Let’s say we’re at sea

Alright let’s pretend

Let’s say we’re at sea
We’re on a sailing boat

The sky is blue
It is for now

Let’s say you fall asleep sunbathing on the deck
You sleep for a while
For a moment you lose your awareness
and then all your worries are gone
What remains are dreams
Only sweet dreams

But then:
lightning strikes

It wakes you up
Even so your eyes remain closed

Everything is pitch black
You can hear the wind howling
You sense the waves roughly attacking the ship

Let’s say it’s pouring with rain
You’re soaked

When you finally dare to open your eyes,
the darkness remains

The ship is rocking even harder now,
waves are crashing onto the bow
Taking with them everything that’s not tightly knotted to the vessel
Mercilessly some squeaking floorboards are ripped loose

You try to grab on to something
Anything

Then out of nowhere there is light
For the shortest moment everything is lit
with light brighter than the sun
Your heart skips a beat
Barely a second passes before you hear the thunder roar
It is as if your ears are bleeding
Let’s say they are

Then the mast falls down
It hits you unconscious
So you don’t notice it when the boat finally breaks in half
and you aren’t there to witness the waves and the storm
feasting on the wreckage

By some leap of fate you don’t drown
Like your consciousness before it,
your body drifts away to calmer waters
You’re alone, lost at sea
